I'm never one to jump on the bandwagon for conferences or gatherings, but ever since last spring I've had countless buddies and advisors gab about Creative South, a meeting of designer minds curated by none other than Mike Jones. After a few nudges from some friends I decided to take the trek to Colombus to scope out what kind of scene Georgia had to offer.
After passing through farm after farm and avoiding more highway patrol than mosquitoes, we finally made it to CS 2015. The line up for speakers and Inkwars were impressive off the bat but nothing prepared me for the amount of wisdom these cats were throwin down. Hearing everyone's stories of success were Inspiring enough but I was even more so interested in speaker's accounts of failure and recovery. Nothing like a good comeback story to get you to work.
All in all, the information communicated and the hands shook made all the driving worth it. There was an insane amount of talent present as well as an inviting communal feel throughout the conference. It's wicked to know that support is there for the more challenging times this job can present. Shout outs to anyone I got to chop it up with and feel free to drop me a line if we didn't get a chance to meet. I'll definitely be making my way back next April. For now, time to start practicing ligatures and sharpening the stylus for Typefight.
